I had a Yuasa charger that I picked up at Freedom for $38 (I think), but that was quite a few years ago now. Currently, I have a Battery Tender version that I got at Pro...it was more like $50 I believe. Just FYI.

If you want a slightly cheaper way out watch the flyer, as these (link below) often go on sale for $9.99.
http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/4 ... harger.jsp

Also pick up a timer (link) and set it for and a couple hours a day.

Another cheap easy way if your bike is near a window is a solar power charger. A small 1amp - 1.5amp can be had for under $20 sometimes under 10 on sale. Obviously only charges during daylight hours so no need to worry about over charging with that low of amperage. Also works great because once you hook up the plug lead you never have to take off the seat to hook it up again. Though if you ever plan on using the plug to put a higher charge on the batt for any reason I recomend taking the lead to parts for trucks and buy one the same size there. They have a larger wires and can take the load better, but still only do it for a short time. The stock plug will burn up and literally catch on fire with 10amps, uhh or so I've been told.

Not sure how "automatic" this one is but worth checking up on. If not so great in the automatic department, use the timer I mention in post above. Set if or and hour or two a day and the 2 amps should keep it topped up. And it's 55% off, plus the 100amp boost mode is nice.

That's a great price on that bench charger. I've got an older version of this one....I think the boost setting on mine is 75 amp if I recall correctly....and I've used it too....works great.

Also, like you mentioned above, I suggest installing the battery pigtail on the bike to plug in your trickle charger. I just keep mine tucked under the rear seat cowl and it's out of the way. I usually keep mine on the trickle charger when it's parked because I may not ride it for weeks at a time. In the winter, I take the battery out and use the clamp connections with the trickle charger. The nice thing about the Battery Tender style chargers is that they are fully automatic.........just like that guy with the Rotisserie on the infomercials......"Just set it, and forget it"....muahahaha.

YMMV 8)
