Need Car Hauler!

Postby Magicman » Sun Feb 07, 2010 7:25 pm

Car broke a belt today, need a lift!

If anyone around HRM has a car hauler/flatbed/trailer(with truck) available tomorrow, I could surely use the help!

You can call me at 449-5529 anytime tonight. I'd like to go get it first thing in the morning.

Feel free to refer me to someone, or better yet, if you know someone, have them contact me!

Thanks,
Brandon.

Thank god no!

Just a serp belt. Lost power steering, alternator, and the kicker: Water pump.

Car is in Nine Mile River, and will either go to Sackville, Enfield, or Burnside (I have to call around first).

You can rent a flat deck from u-haul for around $50.00 a day then all
you would need is a friend with a full size truck with a class three hitch.

I have had decent service on my a4 dealing with www.europeanauto.ca
#477-7596. They are located just up the street from the walmart
just before you hit rocky lake drive.

I have replaced those belts on my car and it is a pretty strait forward job
however there is extra labour charges involved to gain access to them.

Cheers

Well, thanks for the uhaul info.

Next step. Anyone got a truck capable of pulling 3500lbs? My buddy has a 2wd Ranger, but that struggled with 2400lbs on his trailer. And it might be a little snowy. Plus that's hill country.

The reason I can't just replace it where it sits (in some guys driveway), is that you have to pull the front end off. Everything in front of the motor has to come out of the way. Yes, I'm serious. And yes, I'm sure. Bumper, AC condenser, Rad, rad support, etc... All disconnected (and thus draining the coolant).

Driving it with no water pump would cause uneven heat build up, which would possibly lead to warped/cracked parts. Not worth the risk.

To be honest you're better off just calling a professional flat deck. I just sold my hauler this past summer and can tell you from experince what it would cost you in rental fees and gas in a truck like mine it's about even if not cheaper to pay a pro. I hauled a truck for a friend from the airport into to town and cost $100 in fuel.

I'd offer to help but I work the next three days in 10 hour shifts.

$170+ tax to town isn't worth it.

$130 might be... Either way, I screwed, might as well make it convenient.

Hey Brandon,

It shouldn't be more than $75 to have your car hauled into Burnside, etc on a tilt-deck....have you priced it already? Maybe more than you wanna spend, but definitely quick and conventient.

I had a 1-ton dually Sprinter van hauled from Truro to Halifax in late Dec, and it was only $300.

I gave up, Beaton's is on their way. Estimate was $140 to take it right into Halifax... Hope that proves right.
